In a move that blends social networking with political finance, Rep. Eric Cantor is right to give Americans the means to actually DO something to voice their concerns about out of control government spending.
As the website states:
“YouCut – a first-of-its-kind project – is designed to defeat the permissive culture of runaway spending in Congress. It allows you to vote, both online and on your cell phone, on spending cuts that you want to see the House enact. Vote on this page today for your priorities and together we can begin to change Washington’s culture of spending into a culture of savings.”
It took 43 American Presidents to accumulate $5 Trillion in debt. This Congress and this Administration are tripling this amount! YouCut is a fiscally responsible way to Stop the Madness and cut the spending NOW.
Designed by the House Republican Economic Working Group, the program opens government spending cut options to every citizen who can vote to cut their top over-spending program that most likely will be targeted after the Republican takeover in the November elections.
“YouCut is designed to defeat the permissive culture of spending in Congress. After you vote on this week’s choices, we need your help in identifying which program and spending cuts should be featured on this website each week. Click the button below to submit your ideas!”
Although not the panacea to solve all our financial woes, this project takes a serious look at superfluous programs that just don’t need to spend tax-payer money. Without other, better ideas on the table, I find this one to be a refreshing and plausible one indeed.
